
Getting Your M&R Reno or Sulfet Flash Dryers Back Up and Running
When you’re looking for replacement lamps for your M&R Reno or Sulfet rotary machines, it’s easy to think of it as just buying a lightbulb. But you know as well as I do that it’s actually about heat. Specifically, how that heat hits your ink and how fast it cures without ruining the fabric. These machines use shortwave infrared (SWIR) to get the job done fast. If the lamp isn’t right, you’re either staring at wet ink or scorched shirts.
The nitty-gritty on power and voltage
We build our lamps to mirror the exact wattage and voltage your machine expects. If you’re running a high-output Sulfet line, your lamps are taking a beating with constant rapid cycling. Here’s the thing: if the voltage is off, you’re in trouble. You’ll either end up with under-cured prints or a lamp that burns out way too soon. We make sure the ohms match your transformer’s output. That means no tripped breakers and no unnecessary stress on your power supply. It just works.
No one likes a difficult install
Most of our replacements use high-purity quartz glass filled with halogen gas. This lets the filament run hotter—which is what you want—while actually making the tube last longer. We typically use R7s or other heavy-duty connectors because they hold up. Plus, these are true drop-in replacements. You shouldn’t have to spend your afternoon rewiring housings or messing with reflectors just to get the lamp to sit right. You plug it in, and you’re back in business.
A few things to watch out for
High-wattage shortwave lamps are great because the heat is instant. Your throughput goes up, which is awesome. But that heat puts a massive load on your cooling fans. If your airflow is clogged with lint or your fans are starting to wheeze, these lamps will overheat and pop. Simple as that. And do yourself a favor: keep those reflectors clean. When dust builds up on the mirror, it blocks the heat. Then, the lamp has to run even hotter to get the same cure, which just kills the lifespan of the bulb.
